Author's notes

I’d say it is a sea-hare of some sort, and it was not on land as the map shows, but in Burrill Lake.

It's a great sighting. We have this one down as Aplysia extraordinaria, in our Atlas, https://atlasoflife.naturemapr.org/Community/CategoryGuide/111 which it certainly is - but Matt Nimbs says it is shortly to be changed to Aplysia giganticus. Whatever we call it it's a really interesting animal and a special sighting, congratulations.

The oral tentacles are too small to be A. extraordinaria. light coloured dots with black rings = A. sydneyensis - can swim, but don't very often

Thanks for the explanation Matt - fascinating to know that Sydneyensis can swim!
