There are only 4 records on ALA, the most southern being near Taree. So this is a first for NatureMapr. Congratulations from Paul Whitington

Hi Mike, A pretty thing! But the wing shape rules out a hawk moth and in any event the patterning on the fore wings is not right for Coequosa triangularis. Depending on how you measured the wing span (from wing tip to wing tip with the fore wings stretched out) it’s also too small. I’m having trouble tracking it down. I’ll keep trying but if I can’t get anywhere I’ll ask Glenn Cocking. Cheers, Paul

It’s called Dysgonia arctotaenia there but ALA has it in a different genus - Bastilla arctotaenia (https://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:biodiversity.org.au:afd.taxon:9ea4c387-8874-4669-850e-1b0e3c382a67). There are only 4 records on ALA, the most southern being near Taree. So this is a first for NatureMapr. Congratulations!

The wing span was not recorded at the time - I'm learning! - but it is sitting on a corrugated surface so the revised estimate as seen is 8cm.

The adult moths of this species are dark brown, and on each forewing have a broad white line across the middle and a narrow white line across the tip.
