On Canberra Nature Map as moth moderators relying on moth photographs we do not attempt to allocate Amata species to the species level, that is we designate them as Amata sp.(genus). For example, Moths of Victoria talk about an 'Amata nigriceps group'' tentatively containing three or more 'species' (Moths of Victoria, part 7). The Amata species require much ongoing taxonomic work to sort out to species both in the Australian National Insect Collection (ANIC) and the Melbourne collections.
