I found this cute little orange toadstool sitting proud and all alone on a fallen, rotten tree branch beside the river. Pretty damp there, so still plenty of toadstools evident ... Beautiful texture on top and stalk of this one, plus delicate gills ...
Great photos of a notoriously difficult fungus to get good images of. Note also on the underside of the wood it is growing on a white patch. This will be a corticioid fungus, sometimes called a 'paint' fungus because it often resembles a splash of paint on the wooden substrate. It's also a good possability that those little black lumps, dot-like structures below your fungus could be one of the crust fungi. They are often very hard.
