A usually dioecious species. This a female. Located in a hind dunal depression, these 'trees' appear to only attain low heights (1-2m) at maturity. Other low heath forms are prevalent, most obviously Banksia serrata. Numerous other affinities with dry heathland at South Pacific Heathland Reserve, 13km to the north (aeolian sand layer over Wandrawandian siltstone). At Wairo, taller forms of both tree species occur within 40m of this dunal heathland community.
