Fungus on dead wood as I was walking through cutting bushes down to maintain a path. I'm afraid I didn't have mirror or ruler on me ...! Don't think it is trametes do you? Probably not enough info for you do identify ... I shall self-administer a slap on the wrist!
That's OK. This one is an easy one due to it's very distinctive colour and other characteristics so no slap on the wrist needed!. Typical grouping, shape etc.. Sometimes if you look at the wood it's growing on you will see that intense orange colour in cracks in the bark etc. or if there's a broken end to the wood, that make the wood look like it's full of glowing coals.
Just added three more Trametes from 13/09/2019 sighting when I was clearing Paddy Melon from an area of bush burned almost two years ago by the RFS. These were on a blackened prostrate log and their colour was just shining out at me from all the darkly coloured surrounds.
