These noisy birds have just started making their presence felt after a pleasant break from them! Many pairs come to breed here each year and their courtship is incredibly noisy, restless, and the swooping of the male onto the female and 'downing' her, is quite a spectacle! They are especially keen on our Banksia trees. They are truly noisy and their white ruff and black 'spectacles' do very much suggest an Elizabethan Friar. I do have some video if you can tell me how to upload it ...

I notice that some of these birds have a dark tail and some light ... is this indicating maturity or sex?
