Great sighting Mike. This appears to be the first record for this species of Boletellus for Badawang, though I best go back and check some of the old records. At this stage I'm marking it as a significant record as I've had to write up a new species record.
Thanks Pam. I don't like to damage any of the specimens I photograph but if in future I cut a 'sliver' from the cap, as a radial section, does this prevent/hinder the plant from propagating?
I can appreciate how you feel about getting a knife to the specimens. Though as long as you put the cap so the pores face down they will still release their spores. That's how spore prints can be made. Insects often do way more damage than we do anyway, particularly with the 'bolete' group.
