Just to check since it looks like this sighting was a little off the coastline: it might be good to add the pic of the leaves and a brief description of the immediate environment ie sandy, on a cliffline etc. Definitely belongs to Family Geraniaceae.
Some context to give a hint about flower size would be good too. Pelargonium inodorum is a common post-fire coloniser and not restricted to the coast. It has much smaller flowers than australe, but I can't tell what size the flowers are in this photo. If you can add leaf photos to this sighting that would also be useful.
