Author's notes

Though initially a bird pic, I'm wondering what the mistletoe is; we don't have many recorded.

This will be growing on another mistletoe; I can not see the leaves of that one.

Wow - a double 'parasite'. It's close by so I'll take a ladder and check it out. Thanks.

Been reading up on Epiparasitism! I've replaced the pix with better ones but realised that other than a major operation, as the plants are too high in the Casuarina. I think there are three species on the one tree: the one identified and two more, one with a red flower and the other a cream. The latter seems entwined with the N. subaureus but lacking a cherry-picker, it's difficult to tell the nature of their relationship!

The red flowers belong to Amyema cambagei, the Casuarina Mistletoe.
